I was recently been asked to clarify what an organisations situation is with regards to staff who physically intervene when a patient is self-harming.
I was specifically asked what if a client is standing with for example a piece of glass that they are intending or even threatening to use for self harming purposes. Would that be sufficient grounds for staff to physically intervene?
And, as the ‘weapon’ is predominately intended for self harm is this posing a threat to others?
