Why Jim Carrey’s Dad Failed At What He Didn’t Love

Why Jim Carrey’s Dad Failed At What He Didn’t Love

Jim Carrey is a famous actor.

He starred in Ace Ventura, The Mask, Bruce Almighty and many other films.

Jim’s dad, Percy Carrey, was also a talented man.

He could have been a great comedian.

As Jim says: “He was the funniest man in the room. He was also a fantastic saxophone player.”

Before Jim was born Percy had an orchestra in Toronto in Canada.

But in order to be successful Jim’s father had to leave Canada and go to the USA to prove himself there.

Percy was a little bit afraid of that transition.

He also didn’t believe that was possible for him because he had a young family to support.

So he made a conservative choice and got a safe job as an accountant.

And as time moved on it wore him down and he got a little bit bitter.

When Jim was twelve years old his father was let go from that job at the age of 51.

According to Jim, that really broke him.

Not only had he compromised his lifestyle to raise a family, but when you compromise and you fail, that really hurts even more than failing at what you love.

That was a big example for young Jim Carrey.

Jim learned that you can fail at what you don’t love, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.

Years ago I made the decision not to stay in a ‘safe’ job.

Instead I became a Self-Defence Instructor and started teaching self-defence.

That was the best decision I have ever made.

Would you like to become a properly qualified Self-Defence Instructor?
