Education & Training Award – BTEC Level 3

There is often a general assumption that if you are a subject matter expert then you can impart that knowledge to others.

However, this is not necessarily the case, and it is really important to recognise that an ability to teach/train/present is just as important, maybe more important than having subject matter knowledge alone.

Understanding how to structure lesson plans, run teaching session, keep learners involved and engaged and bringing out the knowledge and experience of those in the room is so important and often overlooked, and that is what the BTEC Level 3 Award in Education & Training is designed to do.

That is why it is an important qualification to have if you are looking to teach in any professional field.

This is why we have provided this one-off opportunity for you to take this Award as an additional Award option on the BTEC Level 3 Advanced Restraint Instructor Award Course.

This Award is Required if You Wish to Become an NFPS Licensed Centre

If you wish to become an NFPS Licensed Centre to deliver BTEC Awards then you also need to hold a current and relevant teaching qualification. Many other organisations also require this too.

Therefore we are offering you the opportunity to take the BTEC Level 3 EAT (Education and Training) Award as an additional award on this course so that you can leave with an additional relevant teaching qualification if you require it.

The Qualification requires 48 guided learning hours

We provide a blended learning approach to help you do the necessary online pre-course work prior to attending our BTEC Level 3 Restraint Instructor Award Course (which is where your assessment for this Award will take place).

The assessment requires you to deliver your own micro-teach session with peer evaluation and a Tutor assessment.

Who is the course for?

This course is ideal for you if you are over 19 years of age and want a basic introduction to teaching and training adults.

Typical roles include, but are not limited to:

  1. Trainers/Tutors
  2. Employment Coaches
  3. Mentors

What will the course cover?

As part of this qualification you will cover the following three modules:

  1. Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  2. Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  3. Understanding assessment in education and training

Following the completion of these knowledge units, you will be expected to demonstrate that you can deliver a short 15-minute teaching session and are able to effectively assess those taking part in the micro-teach session.

You will be able to explain the roles of a teacher/trainer, the skills that are required, the assessment & teaching strategies you can employ and the legislation linked to lifelong learning.
