This video is about the increasing problem of stress and mental health issues in the UK.
In this video Trevel and I discuss the takeover of NFPS Ltd by him and Rab.
We also discuss the values of NFPS Ltd and its commitment to those we train.
I recently had a phone call with someone from a withheld number who didn’t want to tell me their name.
The conversation went as follows:
“Hi Mark
I have just been on a training course where the the trainer was heavily ‘pushing’ and promoting the RRN (Restraint Reduction Network) standards and said that: “all schools in the UK need to comply with the RRN standards” and that “any training done in schools can only be done by a BILD Certified trainer who is registered with BILD and the RRN”.
There has been a lot of emphasis by various parties, including some training providers, to ‘push’ organisations to comply with the RRN (Restraint Reduction Network) Standards, when clearly they do not need to do so.
In some cases this is for nothing more than to generate business for themselves at an expense (in some cases at very high financial cost) that the organisation doesn’t have to comply with the RRN standards.
In other cases it may simply be because the person ‘pushing’ organisations to adopt the RRN standards is either misinformed or has not done their own due diligence as to what organisation need to and do not need to, comply with the standards.
Or, you may have been on a training course and asked a question because you were unsure of what the trainer was telling you.
People ask questions for a number of basic reasons, such as:
Why Two Trainers Were Torn To Shreds in A Courtroom And How You Can Become More Confident As A Result.
Many years ago there was a restraint related death of a young person.
During the inquest into the death the restraint trainers had to appear in court to give evidence.
They were (as usual) cross examined by the prosecution, and it was brutal.
Some of you may be experiencing problems in being able to get a PI (Physical Intervention) Trainer Refresher Course.
Or you may be fed up with the restrictive license conditions imposed by your training provider that you are bound by (which may be costing you lost business opportunities, wasted time and money).
Why The Term ‘Least Restrictive’ Has Nothing To Do With Physical or Mechanical Restraint
Every now and then I hear someone stating things like “Staff must use the least restrictive method when restraining a patient” etc.
